For Maria Berea, the only permanent factor is change, as a natural cycle, as research and evolution. "When a man ceases to create, he ceases to live", said Lewis Munford, and that serves as her motto.
Her investigations of shapes and volumetric elements, voids and textures, which take on unexpected colours and sheens, awaken the observer's imagination.
Through a complex look within herself, and an exercise in expressive freedom, she transforms metals (silver, gold, bronze, brass, copper), combining them or enriching them with stones, enamel or noble woods. As Maria herself says, each piece has its own history, and from so many histories she almost creates a novel which follows only her plastic sensibility.
One of the techniques she explores most is that of lost wax casting, because it allows her to get inside the world of the sculpture. In her dialogue, she engages the women and men of today who are looking for something different.
